The recent Xbox 360 price cut announcement is expected to boost the sales of the console considerably. The reduction in price makes the Xbox 360 the cheapest current generation games console on the market.
The price cut was accidentally leaked by retail store Woolworths and is confirmed as below:
This brings the Arcade unit within the reach of a much wider audience, however the value of this package is questionable. I personally bought the core package on the Xbox 360 release day as it was the only available, within 3 days I’d bought a Hard Drive, without it you’re kind of restricted, especially now with the Xbox Live Video Market Place and some of the size-able demos available. Even the Xbox Live Arcade games are now farily large. I do actually own a 512MB memory card as well, but thats mainly so I can use my profile and saved games on other people consoles.
The timing of this price cut is especially good, it’s weeks away from the Christmas shopping period starting, and with the current “credit crunch” people aren’t going to be looking to spend too much this year. When parents are weighing up the PS3 Vs 360 the Xbox may be looking far more attractive this year. (especially with Gears of War 2 on the horizon)
